My experience spans nearly 50 years in the architectural profession, enabling me to take on a variety of projects. I can draw on sound experience working in some of the largest commercial architectural practices both nationally and internationally, where my body of work includes multi-million dollar commercial, industrial and retail developments for the blue chip companies who were clients of the firms to whom i contracted my services.

Projects range from high rise apartments; town houses; aged care facilities; office blocks; industrial buildings; retail premises; hospitality and hotels; grandstands; an airport; a church and educational facilities including primary schools; science laboratories, school and community libraries, sports halls and an Olympic sized pool.

The Pittwater House Schools was awarded a $1.5m grant under the BER scheme, and turned to Emile Jansen to design and build a sports hall in just 8 months. The short time frame and tight budget mandated a simple design which would utilise materials and their properties to their fullest advantage. Steel is a natural choice where large spans have to be made at the lowest cost in short time frames. With sustainability concerns top of mind, the building had to be naturally lit and ventilated and offer a high degree of thermal comfort. The roof is 150 thick Versiclad Double Corrolink sandwich panels, and in the spaces between the tubular columns are aluminium frames with glazing below the lintels and Laserlite polycarbonate sheeting above. In addition to the high R roof and large areas of cross ventilation, thermal comfort is assisted by two 3.6m diameter Big Ass fans. The building harvests rainwater which is used to flush toilets, provide showers and hand washing, and to top up the school swimming pool.
